July 1st has the red and white of his native Canada on display from coast to coast as Canadians celebrate with parades, fireworks and lots of food and drink. On Sunday Mackintosh will be able to put on the red, white and blue of his American friends and enjoy celebrations with the neighbors to the south.

The off-weekend will allow the entire Chris Woods Racing Team to enjoy some down time with family and friends and celebrate the holiday weekend.

Monday will bring the team back to Charlotte Motor Speedway and practice on the 1/4 mile leading up to Tuesday's round 5.  Mackintosh is hoping that lady luck will finally smile his way and that the #03 Scoita Hyundai Bandolero will be able to show a result equal to the quality of the race car.

Mechanical Issues End A Promising Night For Mackintosh

Charlotte, NC

Round #4 of the Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway ended much like two of the other three events so far, in dissappointment. The #03 Scoita Hyundai Bandolero finished 5th in its qualifying heat and starting 9th on the grid for the A-Main feature.

In the first lap, driver Ryan Mackintosh took the car up to 4th place and settled in for the 20 lap feature race. Mackintosh had the car up as high as 2nd place before a caution came out with 4 laps remaining in the race.

While under caution, the #03 encountered a drive train issue which forced the car to slow and then leave the 1/4 mile track at CMS.

"The positive is that we had a really fast car that could have challenged on the last restart", stated Mackintosh from the Cup Garage at the track. "We will be fast again next week and I know it is our turn for a little bit of luck."

The Chirs Woods Racing team will be back in action Saturday evening at Rockingham Speedway.

No Place Like Home

Amherst, NS

14 year old Ryan Mackintosh has spent a great deal of time away from home in the last year racing in the United States.  The demands of the 70 plus race schedule are tough on a driver and crew and this season has been no different for the Chris Woods Racing Team.

A vacation is good for anyone and in this case Mackintosh gets a chance to return to Canada to spend some time with family and friends.

A list of local restaurant "favorites" has been on the agenda daily as well as visits with friends and family.

Mackintosh will return to Charlottte, NC this week for round #4 of the Kangaroo Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

No Result

Charlotte, NC

A very dissappointed Ryan Mackintosh knew that he let a very good opportunity get away Tuesday evening.  "The car was really fast", stated Mackintosh in the garage area after the race.

Starting 8th in the feature, Mackintosh was able to quickly make his way up to 5th at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Trying to force a move by the #1 car of Coty Hartson caused the #03 Scotia Hyundai Bandolero to spin in the turn #3 and eventually get collected by the #2X.

"There is no question we were really fast and this one is on me", continued Mackintosh in a post race interview.

Round #3 of Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Kanappolis,NC

A good Monday night at CMS left the Chris Woods Racing Team feeling confident about Race #3 of the Summer Shootout.

The #03 Scotia Hyundai Bandolero performed well in the limited test runs driver Ryan Mackintosh ran at the 1/4 mile track. The team is hoping that the good forcast will bring similar conditions to the track Tuesday night and will allow them to have a good run.

Mackintosh is looking for a good night after a solid performance in Race #2. "Woody has this car working really well. I can't wait to race on Tuesday",stated Mackintosh.

Mackintosh races Tuesday then will be taking a 6 day vacation home to Canada to visit family and friends.

Third at The Rock

Rockingham,NC

A fast car for the first ten laps turned into a tight car but Ryan Mackintosh was able to hold onto a top 3 finish at Rockingham.

The #03 Scotia Hyundai Bandolero was able to hold off a late charge of Florida's Ryan Shattuck to finish in third behind the race winner Riley Halverson.

"This was a good showing for us after all the work that Woody and the team has put in to getting this car back on the track", stated Mackintosh from Rockingham in a post race phone interview. "We qualified well and ran well."

A Good Result From The Back

Charlotte,NC

The #03 Scotia Hyundai Bandolero had a lot to overcome this week at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Ryan Mackintosh driven Bandolero had to start shotgun on the field as the result of last week's incident with the #69 car. Both cars were penalized by being forced to start this week's feature on the last row. The #69 did not show for this week's event so Mackintosh went to the back and started 24th.

The other challenge on the night was the fact that the Chris Woods Racing Team had to start Mackintosh in his backup car after the primary sustained major damage the previous week.

Mackintosh was able to work his way through the field and pass 17 cars on the way to a 7th place finish in the 20 lap feature.

The #03 will be back on the track this weekend in Rockingham and again next week at the Summer Shootout in the Chris Woods Racing #03 Scotia Hyundai Bandolero.

Charlotte, NC

The Chris Woods Racing Team is undercover in the Cup Garage at Charlotte Motor Speedway as they wait for a severe weather system in the area to pass.

"I don't think we will be on the track tonight", commented driver Ryan Mackintosh. "They might bring out the jet-dryers but it is too soon to tell".

Shortened Practice at CMS

Charlotte,NC

Due to a rain delay, the practice session for Race #2 of the Summer Shootout was shortened for all teams.

The Chris Woods Racing team fielded the backup car #24 for the practice session with Ryan Mackintosh behind the wheel. The primary #03 sustained some damage during last week's testing and feature race. The car is being fully rebuilt back at the shop but will not be ready to see action until Race#3.

"The #24 was decent tonight...we had some braking issues but that can be resolved before tomorrow", stated driver Ryan Mackintosh after the shortened practice session.

Team Owner Woody Woods says he expects the #24 to perform well but is looking forward to having the #03 back on the track.

Summer Shootout Update

Charlotte,NC

A lap two incident took the #03 Scotia Hyundai Bandolero out of the race.

Unfortunately, when the #69 turned the #03 after the incident, the #03 got spun in front of the leaders and damaged the #69's team mate in the #4 car as well as the eventual race winner Coty Hartson.

Finding The Good In The Bad

Roughmont, NC

The weekend certainly did not yield the results desired for the Chris Woods Racing Team at either Concord Speedway or Orange County Speedway.

Friday night saw the #03 Scotia Hyundai Bandolero make a move for the lead on late race restart. Mackintosh was able to grab the inside line underneath the #4 car before contact came as the Holleman car came down the track in turns 3 and 4.  Both cars received damage and had to drive to the pit area.  Officials deemed Mackintosh to be speeding as he followed the #4 car to the pits and black flagged the #03.

"It was a really too bad, we had a fast car",stated Mackintosh. "Two races in a row and the exact same thing happens,"commented the Amherst, NS driver in a post race interview.

Orange County Speedway was the site of just bad luck as #24 was pushing for the lead in the Outlaw division mechanical problems occured forcing Mackintosh to retire early.

The team was not happy with the results but were happy with the performance of both cars and their driver.

The #03 will be back on the track Monday evening at Charlotte Motor Speedway as the team prepares for the first race of the Summer Shootout.
