2nd Overall In INEX Winter Heat

Charlotte, NC

Five oval and three roadcourse events are in the books at the 2010 INEX Winter Heat series at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Coming off of a tough crash in practice, Ryan Mackintosh was able to qualify his car in third and hold the car there for the 20 lap feature at Charlotte.  Mackintosh moved up from third in points to finish second behind John Holliman of North Carolina.

Mackintosh will now have two weeks off before beginning the points season in United States in Concord.

The winter season has given the driver of the #03 Bandolero an opportunity to gain more experience on the tracks in the Southern U.S. where he will compete for the national championship State side.  Mackintosh grabbed a third place in the U.S. Winter Nationals in Florida last week and has followed it up with a second place in the very competitive INEX Winter Heat Series that has wrapped up after 8 weeks in Charlotte.

Final Event of Winter Heat Scheduled For Saturday

Charlotte, NC

After nearly a month break the final event of the INEX Winter Heat Series is scheduled to wrap up on the 1/5 mile oval at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Ryan Mackintosh sits third in the points with an outside shot of taking the points lead.  The #4 car of John Holliman currently leads the points and is likely happy to see the change of venue from the C.M.S. road course back to the 1/5 mile where he has enjoyed great success.

The points race from second back to fifth is very tight and how it will finally settle out will depend on the final results from Saturday.

Winter National Wrap Up

Orlando, Florida

The final two events in the INEX Winter Nationals took place in Orlando on Saturday.

Ryan Mackintosh entered the day in second place with two races to go in the competition.  The #03 qualified 3rd for race 4 and had a great start jumping quickly into 2nd place before equipment failure.  A broken drive chain ended the race on the first lap and with it any chance to win the the championship.

Race two on the day saw Ryan Mackintosh qualify in 3rd and drive his car to a second place finish.  The real challenge was a stuck accelerator for 14 of the 20 laps which required Mackintosh to kill the motor on entry to the corners.

Mackintosh ended the series in 3rd place in points and will be back on the track in Charlotte, NC next Saturday.

Black Flag and Black Clouds

Orlando, Florida

Thursday's feature race ended with a black flag for the #03 VIP Fan Experience Bandolero.  After making contact with Florida driver Ryan Shattuck the #03 sustained front end damage which made the car uncontrollable.  Exiting turns 2 and 4 became impossible without allowing the car to cross the yellow line designated as the highest line the Bandoleros are allowed to drive.  Mackintosh was black flagged and lost all his points while running in 3rd.  The series does allow you to take the best 5 finishes of the 6 races.

In other action, Steve Pye drove to another top ten finish in the Master's division in his #6 Legend Car.  Pye battled for several laps with the #5 car which slowed his progress through the field.

The INEX Winter Nationals will be back on the track in Orlando on Saturday after today's rainout.
